Texas Holdem Poker Offline/online

Michael Greens asked:

Texas Hold’em is one of the fastest and most exciting games of poker, and probably the most popular. It can have up to 10 players each hand, more than most poker games, and usually operates the lowest limit games in the cardroom.

Texas Hold’em is a more complex game than first appears, especially when using the community cards. Always remember that everyone on the table can use the 5 community cards, and their two hole cards may be better than yours.

The best way to practice Texas Hold’Em is to deal out 5 community cards, and see what the best possible hand is, and then work backwards to lower hands. Then add two hole cards. This will get you used to looking at possible variations.

Online poker has experienced a huge increase in popularity due to many factors. The many television programs, the convenience of playing from home at any time, the ease of depositing and withdrawing funds, and many other factors contribute to this popularity.

Many people feel uncomfortable in a live poker room, others find it inconvenient to find a room to play at, so turning on the pc and joining a game is the perfect solution

There are currently over 60 million individuals who play Texas Hold’em online, and yet only a hand full of poker players know these secrets - why is that?

• First off, if every online poker player had this poker knowledge, the competition online would be too strong.

• Second, if the fish (the weak players of which professionals make their money off of) attained this information, they will be no longer any “fish in the sea.”

• And last, online poker pros are just too embarrassed to admit they are using these secrets because it makes them look weak.

No one wants to be known to have secret aids helping them win at online poker - it’s too humiliating!

Marty Smith asked:

A while back Annie Duke was challenged to see how well she could do at deciphering if a person was lying or not. She participated in an experiment for The Discovery Channel alongside a psychic, and an FBI agent named Joe Navarro. All with seemingly inherent skills at finding the underlying truth of an individual answering questions using observations of posture, tone, expressions, words and anything else they deemed valid to the discovery.

Navarro and Duke did very well during this test, while the psychic professional didn’t do nearly as good. Hence the beginning for Duke of discovering even more tells than she already knew while picking Navarro’s brain and trying to relate some of that information to the poker table.

At the time Navarro did not play poker, and hadn’t really equated his skills to the field. This book changes all that. Read ‘em and Reap parlays Navarro’s extensive FBI intelligence skills into new poker skills unbeknownst by most. Let me say here, that this is far beyond the Mike Caro Book of Tells in that it examines what Navarro describes as part of the brain known as the limbic brain.

This part of the brain functions in a way that reacts to natural stimuli around our bodies, usually associated with dangerous or protective emotions that are somewhat involuntary. How these reactions are controlled, harnessed, and exhibited at a poker table can divulge key feelings a player has about his hand, the community cards, and his plan of action.

For the most part, this book is written quite well, straight up as it were. Not a lot of humor in this as, well, Joe was an FBI agent. More to the point: there is striking content in here that will offer up new information and skills to the most experienced players out there. If you play live games or tournaments it’s going to be quite hard to ignore the content in this book, especially since you can easily envision your opponents having this information on you.

An interesting exercise worthwhile here is to read the book, and then go watch those WPT reruns all over again. In the first episode I picked at random, I spotted 2 tells, 1 of them was on a professional player, and the other one on a player that was actually under the table! Yeah, there’s lots in this book about that! Needless to say, the book will add valuable dimensions to my live game.

Phil Hellmuth is on the cover, and writes a few short pages in here as well as an introduction, but that does more for him than it does for Navarro. Joe didn’t need Phil to market this book and if you thought by the cover that this was another lame “I am Phil Hellmuth monologue”, it isn’t at all. Phil just hooked up with a far better writer, with far more valuable content to offer the poker market.

How You Can Play Poker Today and Win

Sean Moronse asked:

Play poker today and win! At first, the phrase may seem contradictory, for not many people say that the game is easy to win in. Aside from being a card game that like most other card games, has some variables that one simply cannot control, it has to be played with other people, and therefore can get very competitive. In order to emerge as a victor in a game, a player must have a hand with the highest value, based on a set of hand rankings.

If you’re planning to play poker today and win, the first thing you must do is, of course, be familiar with the rules. Also, it is important to know what kind of poker game you are playing. Poker isn’t just poker to everyone — there are many variations, because in various areas of the world, different rules have been developed over time. Examples of some variations are as follows: straight, stud, draw and community. “Straight” is when a complete hand is given to each player, and players make their bets in one round. In stud, cards are dealt in a prearranged combination of face-down and face-up “streets”. Betting is done after each round. Draw is where each player gets a complete hand, face-down, and players may change their hand by discarding and getting new cards. Lastly, community is a variation of stud, with “community” cards staying at the center of the table and can be used by anyone.

There are different ways to play poker today and win, because it depends on the player to decide what he or she may define as winning. One can win a round of poker and be content with that, while hard-edged gamblers may only consider themselves winners if they accumulate the most money at the end of one night. The number of poker games that can be played during one sit-down or meeting is unlimited. Therefore, you can play poker today and win one game, or a thousand, depending on how many rounds your group decides to have.

In order to win a game of poker, one must employ various strategies that will hopefully mislead the other players and clear your own pathway to victory. One popular concept concerning the game is bluffing. Bluffing is a commonly used term that means raising a weak hand to get all other players to fold. To fold is to throw away your hand and surrender all claim to a current pot. Players usually do this when they are afraid of losing especially after having a bet a significant amount of money. Bluffing is done to fool other players, but you can also call someone’s bluff. Poker involves a lot of deception on everyone’s part, and in order to win, you have to know your fellow competitors well.

Now that you know a bit more about the game, you can go play poker today and win. You will be surprised to see that a little information and a few tips can help you a lot in the long run, in your quest to become a great poker player.
